Christmas lights turn on

Date: 17 Nov 2011

Time: 14:30 - 18:45

This years christmas light switch on event will be a musical extravaganza, and will include spectacular performances by our calypso band who will kick of the day for us at 2.30pm. Our special guest stars X Factor Nu Vibe and The Only Way is Essex star James Argent will be wowing the crowds with their musical talent and will stay with us to switch on the christmas lights at 6.45pm. Other performers include Boy Band favourite Andy Scott Lee, Talent Show runner up Gina, Local rock band front man Jay Shortman, Lisa Marie, and our 2011 Talent Show winner Lee Beaumont who will be entertaining us with a flavour of opera. You may remember Oliver Garland who also entered our Talent Show this year, well Oliver's talent caught the eye of our celebrity judge Josie (Big Brother winner) who wrote a piece on him in her Now Magazine column. Word got around and The Wanted and Saturdays manager read the article and to cut a long story short Oliver is in the process of signing contracts!!!   So we are delighted that Oliver has agreed to entertain us with some new tracks this year.

The shopping centre walk ways will be awash with lights and colour this year, with regular appearances by a fairy topped stilt walking christmas tree, a balloon modelling elf on stilts, glowing fairy on stilts, christmas present performing elves, a white wonderland stilt walking christmas tree, roller skating christmas puddings, baubles, snowmen and jack frost, plus our very own much loved regulars the Sunshine Clowns, not forgetting our Town Cryer Trevor Heeks on hand all day greeting our shoppers.

Dont forget to visit our traditional Charity Street Fair which will be down South Walk, and the fun fair rides down West Walk.

After his 4,000 mile journey from the North Pole Father Christmas will be arriving in style this year, being pulled in his magical sleigh by 6 white ponies, who will be delivering him to his Grotto at 12pm ready to meet his first tiny customer of the day.
