A planning application for two new food units in South Parade, Yate Shopping Centre has recently been submitted to South Glos Council by Shopping Centre owners, Dominion Corporate Trustees (DCT).
The application – for Nos. 13-17 and 21-23 South Parade - will create two units of 300 and 200 square metres respectively suitable for takeaway outlets. In addition, a further 35 car parking spaces will be created adjacent to the units. Spokesperson for DCT, Mark Hull, said: “We have been encouraged to create more restaurant facilities within the Centre for some time. We believe these two units will improve the Centre during the day and create more vitality during the evenings. “We are also currently undertaking a full review of the Centre’s car parking to make it more efficient but the additional car parking will be convenient for these units in the evening and create more parking for the Centre generally.”
It is proposed that the new car parking will be pay & display during normal working hours and free after 5.30pm. The current policy of free car parking across the main car parks in DCT’s ownership will remain unchanged. The new car parking will also mean the loss of some young trees but these will be replaced by new landscaping of the remaining grassed areas and potentially along Kennedy Way.
