Yate Leisure Centre, which opened in the 1970’s is undergoing its first ever major refurbishment, with £1.8million being spent on the centre. This has seen a brand new softplay, café and reception area open in August. Phase two includes Yate getting its Active Gym, featuring the latest Technogym equipment, Spinning Studio and our new Active Service Plan to ensure customers get the results they want for their health and fitness goals. The gym features 90 pieces (double that of the old gym in the centre) of equipment and the ‘Wellness’ System the personal trainer key, which enables members to ensure they follow their personal fitness programme and stay in touch with the fitness staff who are there to support them. www.sgleisure.org/centres/yate
Yate Health Centre NHS South Gloucestershire is building your new Health Centre and West Walk Surgery, which is planned to open in Autumn 2009. The NHS will share this new facility with South Gloucestershire Council to provide integrated services for children and young people, offering information, advice and support, in a warm and welcoming environment. Rather than having to go to a large hospital, local people will be able to use the new Centre to have tests, outpatient appointments and access a minor injuries service. The Centre will also provide physiotherapy services, which will move from Chipping Sodbury Clinic. The total cost of the project is £12.4 million. www.sglos-pct.nhs.uk
